Who we are
Monthly is a subscription billing service for businesses in Ghana, built by Devlaps. When a business bills you through Monthly, we process your details to run that subscription for them. When you run a business on Monthly, we process your details to run your account.
What we collect
- Who you are: your name, phone number and email address.
- How you pay: the MoMo numbers you pay with and their network. We never see or store your MoMo PIN.
- Your subscriptions: which plans you subscribe to, every payment attempt and its result, refunds, and your Monthly credits balance and history.
- For businesses: your business details, team members and their roles, plans, and API and webhook settings.
- Sign-in: one-time codes, stored only as a keyed hash and expired after five minutes, and passwords, stored only as a strong hash.
Why we use it
- To take the payments you agreed to, on the dates you agreed to.
- To remind you before each charge, and to tell you when a payment fails, by SMS and email.
- To show a business its own subscribers and payments, and nothing about anyone else’s.
- To keep accounts safe: limiting sign-in attempts, and refusing to reveal whether an account exists.
We don’t sell your details, and we don’t use them for advertising.
Who helps us
We share only what each needs to do its job:
- Mobile money providers and our payment gateway, to collect payments you approve.
- Twilio, to send text messages, and our email providers, to send email.
- The hosting and storage providers that run our servers and keep encrypted backups.
- The business you subscribe to, which sees your name, phone, email, subscription and payment history with it.
How long we keep it
Payment and credits records are kept as a permanent ledger, because they’re financial records. Other details are kept while your account is open, and for as long as the law requires afterwards.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your details, under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). Write to hello@usemonthly.app and we’ll answer within 30 days. Some payment records can’t be deleted while the law requires us to keep them.
